The Ponderosa Series
This project captures the enchanting wildlife around my childhood home affecionately coined, The Ponderosa. Majority of these images were captured in May 2022 with a few stemming from the year prior. I hope you're able to get lost in a harmonious blend of nature's way and intentional gardening. You'll come across mini forests displayed via moss-covered stumps with new plant growth inside, a dragonfly posing above the pool, vivid red Canna lillies against a backdrop of the perfect blue sky painted with white clouds and more.
My dad, Carlie Murphy Jr., had the greenest thumb and ensured the greenery of our home reflected the seasons of love, possibilities, and lessons that were taught to us growing up. He transitioned a few months later after I took these photos and he seemed to like the raw images I showed him at the time. My goal was to capture his vision in the realest light possible. This series showcases the simple yet complex beauty and resilience of the nature around us and within us.
My observations of the flora, fauna, and our family reinforces the reality that we can create beauty wherever we go if we're willing to plant our seeds, and watch them grow.
With love and gratitude, I dedicate this series to my dad and mom. <3
